Dear Sri Hayagriva BhakthAs:
In the context of the just-concluded 82nd Thirunakshatram of
Srimad Azahgiya Singar, adiyEn will be releasing a few stOtrams and
AshtOttarams and Nakshatra Maalika relating to SrI HayagrIvan and composed
by the great Sri HayagrIva UpAsakar, Vaikunta Vaasi Sri Seva SwAmaigaL.
Here is the first offering that awakens Sri Lakshmi HayagrIvan from His
yOga nidhra to bless his BhaktAs.
Seva Swami had built a MaNi Mantapam at VillivAkkam for Lakshmi
HayagrIvan and Swamy Desikan. He had that MaNi Mantapam consecrated with
sacred waters from the holy rivers from all parts of India and poured the
remnants into the well water inside the MaNi Mantapam that is being used for
daily ArAdhanam.
Seva Swami had pravachanams/KaalakshEpams and conferences there to
celebrate the Vaibhavams of Sri Lakshmi HayagrIvan and Swamy Desikan.
Here is the text of the 8 SuprabhAta SlOkams that Swami used as a
Vandhi and VaidhALikar to awaken Sri Lakshmi HayagrIvan every morning.

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Here, the poet eulogizes the sacred feet, hand and the eyes of Lord
HayagrIvan. The Lotus soft feet of the Lord are identified as the recipients
of the AarAdhanam as ordained by the VedAs. The Lotus hand is holding the
UpadEsa Mudhraa to indicate that He is the Lord of all VidhyAs. His lotus eyes
are casting their merciful glances to protect the world that He has created and
is protecting. Oh Lakshmi HayagrIvan! May this be an auspicious dawn for
You!

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Oh Bhagavann! You incarnated first to instruct Chathurmukha Brahamaa about
the four Vedams that he would need to carry out Your assignment of the
creation of the world and its beings. Once again, You incarnated as Hayagrivan
to perform upadEsam about the Vedams to Brahmaa after the two asurAs
(Madhu and KaiDabhan) stole them; You retrieved the stolen VedAs as
MatsyAvatAran and then assumed HayagrIvAvatAram to teach Brahmaa the
four Vedams. Oh Lord! You have now incarnated at this dhivya agrahAram of
VillivAkkam to bless adiyEn because of Your fondness for Your BhakthAs. May
this be an auspicious dawn for You!
Here the poet points out that the Lord took HayagrIva avatAram twice to
provide Vedic instructions to Brahma Devan. SrI HayagrIvan is also saluted as
MadhusUdhanan, since He crushed the asuran Madhu between His thighs for
the offenses that he had committed and restored the VedAs once again for the
benefit of Brahma dEvan.

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Sri SEva Swamy describes the pitiable state of the world and its beings in this
slOkam. He says that the entire world has lost its bearings and is following
lowly, adharmic ways (Saastra Viruddham) and therefore is plunged in the sea
of ajn~Anam. Instead of taking the high road to meditate on the VedArthams
and enjoying the Veda Dhvani with closed eyes, the beings of the world are
immersed in transient and sorrow-producing worldly pleasures (siRRinbham) and
consider those evanescent, lofty sukhams as lasting ones (pErinbahm).
The most compassionate Sevaa Swamy prays to His UpAsanA Moorthy on behalf
of all of us to be lifted out of samsAric mire and travel on the royal road of
Vedic way. He also instructs us on what is to be learnt and what is to be
rejected as well as who we should seek for our protection. He concludes that
the one and only step to banish ajn~Anam and acquire true Jn~Anam is to seek
the sacred feet of Lord HayagrIvan as rakshaNam.

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Oh Lakshmi HayagrIvaa! Your bahkthAs adore You with ardor and eulogize You
as Maadhavan (the Lord of Lakshmi) and MadhusUdhanan (slayer of the asuran,
Madhu). Your devotees are fortunate in enjoying Your ThirumEni and anantha
kalyANa guNams as insatiable nectar. They are firm in their view that Your
glances grant them Moksha sukham. Oh Lord! May this be an auspicious Dawn
for You!

The dhivya roopam, dhivya naamam and the dhivya tEjas of Sri Lakshmi
HayagrIvan is saluted by Sri Sevaa Swamy Here. The dhivya MangaLa vigraham
of Lord HayagrIvan is eulogized by the VedAs and MahA Lakshmi.
His dhivya Naamams are saluted by many smrutis, Upanishads and PurANams
thru AshtOtthara Sathams and Sahasra Naamams. His JyOthi svaroopam is
meditated upon as protection against the ills of SamsAram by His devotees
thru the adoption of the Bhakti and Prapatti Yogams. Oh Lord of such infinite
Vaibhavam! May this dawn be an auspicious one to awaken!

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Here Seva Swamy is inspired by the two slOkam passages from Swamy
Desikan’s SrI HayagrIva StOtram and salutes the auspicious Hala hala dhvani
arising from the throat of the Lord as the powerful udhgeetha PraNavam that
destroys all amangaLams and drenches one with all subhams.
The poet says: "Oh HayagrIva Bhagavann! The VedAntis and the those
cognizant of VedArthams declare that Your Hala Hala dhvani is the Saama Veda
PraNavam known as Udhgeeta Praavam. The Vedas celebrate this Hala Hala
dhvani. Oh Lord HayagrIvaa! May Thou awaken and have a most auspicious
dawn!"

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Oh Lord HayagrIvaa! You grant a status equal to You (bhOga saamyam and
Medha VilAsam) to those, who pursue Your UpAsanA thru Your Mantra japam.
Your bhakthan, Swamy Desikan’s dhivya MangaLa Vigraham is the evidence in
this matter. Swamy adorns VyAkhyaa mudhrai on one hand and the Veda Kosam
on the other just like Yourself to bless us. Oh Lord Hayavadhana prabhu of
such Vaibhavam! Please awaken and May this be an auspicious dawn for You!
Sri Desika Sevaa Swamy as Parama Bhaktha SiromaNi of Lord HayagrIvan
echos the credo of all HayagrIva UpAsakaas. For them, Lord HayagrIvan and
Swamy Desikan are one and the same. They are inseparable for such Desika
darSana abhimAnis. Swamy Desikan was blessed by Garuda Bhagavaan to have
Sri HayagrIva SaakshAthkAram and became the bhAgyasaali to seat the Lord
on the throne at the tip of His tongue. He went thereafter to pulverize the
Para matams and to establish the param Vaidhika Sri VaishNava darsanam. For
this AchArya Saarvabhouman, all he wrote as SrI sooktis and the KaNDana
granthams are recordings on palm leaves of what Lord HayagrIvan wrote in his
mind (VeLLai Parimukhar DesiakrAi virahaal adiyOm uLLatthil yezhutiyathu
Olayil ittOm). Therefore, for those steeped in Desika darsanam, Lord
HayagrIvan and our AchArya Tilakam, Swamy Desikan are one and the same.

Comments (by SrI V SaThakOpan Swami):
Oh Lord! the great AchAryan, Swamy VedAntha Desikan performed Prapatti at
Your lotus feet to perform AarAdhanam for You and rested all his burdens at
Your sacred Thiruvadi. You took the sankalpam to bless him by choosing to
adorn the MaNi Mantapam at VillivAkkam agrahAram. Oh Lord of such limitless
vaibhAvam! Please awaken and may this dawn be an auspicious One for You!
SrI Sevaa Swamy with the full anugraham of Swamy Desikan and Lord
HayagrIvan consecrated Them as archaa Moorthys at the dhivya MaNi
Mantapam at VillivAkkam and points out that we can gain both of Their
anugrahams through worship of Them at Their abode at VillivAkkam.
The Vaibhavam of Lord HayagrIvan can be enjoyed further in number of ebooks
